His Boy Elroy, formed in March of 2009, is taking on the MN music scene with force! Comprised of four multi-talented musicians with experience to back, they aim to please and are ready to rock! Their diverse songlist and exceptional showmanship separate them from the rest. With solid production and an all-around fun, energetic show, His Boy Elroy is quickly working their way towards becoming one of the area's top bands!
Though His Boy Elroy is a new group, they are no strangers to the scene...
David Lee (Lead Guitar/Vocals) has used his passion for the guitar as an outlet for his creativity, as well as channeling his inner 80's hair rocker/blues artist/twanger/etc. In late 2004, he co-founded and helped establish known Fargo-based group October Road and performed with the group for many years before departing to pursue different opportunities. With a clean musical slate and a renewed passion for the gigging game, he decided to give his cousin Matt a call in regard to forming a new band...who also happened to be a drummer.
Matt Kargas (Drums/Vocals) brings the powerful "I'M GONNA PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE!" drumming style that defines the heartbeat of HBE's sound. Throw his lead and background vocals into the mix and you've got the perfect combo! Matt also co-founded and helped to establish Fargo-based outfit October Road in late 2004. Kargas left the group in early 2006 to pursue and exact his dream of owning an archery store. ( You may have heard of Minnesota Archery?.....yes, shameless plug for Matt.....we know!) After discussing the possibility of a new band, they agreed on it and set out to find the right guys.
HBE's utility guy was found close to home, in Matt's cousin Jeremy Kargas. (Yes, we're all cousins somehow.) He brings his genius keyboard skillz (with a z), tight rhythm guitar and sharp vocals to the group. He is a mastermind when it comes to rhythms, and has lent this knowledge as director for Crow River area group Phoenix Drumline. He is a multi-talented individual, dabbling in all aspects of the musical spectrum, and also serves as the band's media and community go-to person. Now all they needed was to look for someone who could Slap-a-da-bass.
And they didn't have to look far! "Just down the road", one might say. Eric Iverson has graced his bass guitar skills with local outfit Sea Biscuit, which included members from the popular Twin Cities area group Orange Whip. He adds the low end to the ensemble's take on all varieties of music, and is in a league of his own when it comes to playing style. He is a varitable chameleon on the bass and is ready for any challenge you throw at him, whether it be a new list of tunes to play, or the task of building a drum riser that could withstand multiple natural disasters. HBE couldn't have found a better fit, and so their story began...
Through their combined years on the scene, His Boy Elroy has many accomplishments worth mention. Collectively, they have opened for many national acts, such as: Chris Cagle, Billy Currington, Diamond Rio, Little Texas, Trick Pony, Joe Nichols, Lo-Cash Cowboys, Jessi Alexander, Jon Randall, Rockie Lynne and more! They have collectively played many fairs and festivals, most notably the largest country festival in the Midwest, WEFest!!!
